Commissioner for Social Affairs,African Union
His Excellency Dr. Mustapha Sidiki Kaloko is the Commissioner for Social Affairs at the African Union Commission effective July 2012. H.E Dr. Kaloko had previously worked for the UN as well as the AU. He has extensive experience of medical practice in Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and England. Dr. Kaloko holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Post Graduate degree in Internal Medicine as well as a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) University of Liverpool, United Kingdom (UK).
Since assuming office of the Commission of Social Affairs H.E Dr. Kaloko has been in the forefront spearheading high level advocacy for reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health. Under his stewardship, the department continue to spearhead the implementation of the Maputo Plan of Action as part of the Commissions’ renewed call to end preventable maternal deaths by 2030. These and many other initiatives have indeed made H.E Dr. Kaloko, the African voice for maternal, adolescent and child health.
