The AHAIC 2025 Women in Global Health Awards
In recent years, African countries have taken a more proactive approach to advancing their economic, social, ecological, and public health goals. Health providers, scientists, innovators, and community champions are at the forefront of transforming Africa’s health agenda, catalyzing change driven by the need for more responsive, people-centered health systems and solutions.
Across the continent, thought leaders and changemakers are making significant strides in diverse fields—from youth and economic empowerment to innovation and technology, community leadership, climate resilience, and gender equality. By developing and implementing homegrown solutions to tackle some of today’s most pressing health and development challenges, these champions demonstrate Africa’s immense potential to advance health equity and sustainable development.
As we approach International Women’s Day (8 March), the AHAIC 2025 Women in Global Health Awards will shine a spotlight on outstanding individuals who are shaping the future of global health in Africa. This year, we particularly seek to recognize:
- Women leaders driving transformative change in global health, advocating for stronger, more equitable health systems, and championing solutions that improve the well-being of women, girls, and communities.
- Male allies actively advancing gender equality in health—whether by mentoring women in the sector, implementing gender-responsive policies, or championing initiatives that support women’s leadership in global health.
Through this award, we honour those who drive impact and inspire the next generation of leaders dedicated to building a healthier, more inclusive future for all.
Nominate a changemaker today and help us celebrate the power of leadership, innovation, and gender equality in shaping Africa’s health future.
