From 5-7 March 2019, world leaders, policymakers, civil society, technical experts, innovators, the private sector, researchers and youth advocates will gather in Kigali, Rwanda, to address how Africa can accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) – and to map a pathway from commitment to action.
UHC improves people’s health, reduces poverty, and fuels economic growth. Yet, hundreds of millions of people around the world still do not have access to the essential health services they need to survive and thrive. Each year, 11 million Africans fall into poverty due to high out-of-pocket payments on health care. Moreover, critical gaps remain in access to and quality of essential health services, especially for vulnerable populations.
Achieving UHC in Africa will require strong political leadership, smart and strategic spending on health, effective public-private partnerships, and inclusion of diverse stakeholders. To achieve the vision of UHC in Africa by 2030, we need collective action now. Use this social media toolkit to add your voice to the call for UHC in Africa.
This conversation is too important to be contained to one meeting – we all have a critical role to play in speaking up for health for all, everywhere.
Use this toolkit to voice your support for UHC in Africa, share why health for all matters to you, and call upon leaders to leave no one behind. Here’s how you can engage:
