Marie-Claire Wangari is a youth leader with an interest in global health. She has a special interest in the fields of mental health and health care financing where she founded the Medical Students’ Association of Kenya (MSAKE) “Speak It Out” Mental health campaign as well as moderated the 2017 World Healthcare Students Symposium (WHSS) Healthcare Financing Panel respectively.
For the past four years she has been part of various youth led organizations having served as the 2016/17 MSAKE President as well as the 2016/17 International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) Development Assistant for the Africa Region.
She is also one of the project coordinators of the REproductive and Sexual health ProgrammE for Kenyan Teenagers (RESPEKT) an organization based in Denmark and Kenya that aims to advocate for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) on behalf of the Kenyan youth.
Currently she is the Founder and Chairperson of the Kenya Healthcare Students Summit (KEHSS) a forum that seeks to empower healthcare students and young healthcare workers to be champions and advocates of Universal Health Coverage. She is also an International Team member of the International Student Surgical Network (InciSioN) an organization that advocates for Global Surgery education, research and awareness worldwide.
When she is not trying her luck being the next Trevor Noah, you will find her doing some graphics design whilst listening to music.
