Mohamed Motala
Mohamed Motala, NACOSA Executive Director, is an organizational, governance, and development team leader, having served in executive and non-executive leadership positions in the public, private and non-profit sectors. He started working as an organizer amongst workers and shack dwellers during Apartheid South Africa and has continued working in support of poorer communities. He is passionate about addressing poverty and inequality as well as the extent to which political, social, and economic conditions determine the health of poorer communities. Mohamed holds postgraduate degrees in Geography, and Town and Regional Planning. He has led diverse teams that comprised university professors, social movement leaders, and community activists.
