Dona Anyona

Regional Policy and Advocacy Advisor, Amref Health Africa

A passionate Human Rights lawyer and gender equality advocate, Dona Anyona, is the Regional Policy and Advocacy Advisor at Amref Health Africa and previously the Head of Community Implementation in the Centre of Excellence on Ending FGM in the Support to the Africa Led Movement to Ending FGM. Previously, Dona led Health Systems Advocacy as a Regional Advocacy Manager. Dona holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Moi University, a postgraduate degree in Law from Kenya School of Law and a Masters in International Conflict Management from Nairobi University. Her Law specialty is Human Rights, with fifteen years’ experience post admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She is a member of the Framework Convention for Global Health (FCGH Alliance) as well as the Amref Ethics and Scientific Review Committee (ESRC). She has led and supported regional initiatives at Amref Regional Programme, particularly health policy advocacy and gender and inclusion programming in projects in Amref Health Africa. She is also an adjunct lecturer at Amref International University (AMIU) and currently pursuing her PhD in Global Health, Human Rights and SRHR at Utretch University.
